World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can increase the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses such as crit chance and PvE damage.
For instance a weapon that has the upgrade template that is ending in % will take on 3damage to attack each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).
The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the current level of the item. The cost increases as the item's level increases.
Components
Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons and armor to give them a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. item upgrades can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Certain upgrades also come with specific cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be placed in equipment with a slot for them; the item must be at a minimum upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be applied. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they can't be used multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a special type of upgrade component used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
A prefix or suffix can be added to an upgrade, thereby changing the name of the item it's applied to (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to create stronger versions of the equipment with less Upgrade Crystals than is required to achieve the same level of upgrade using normal methods.
A 'boost upgrade' can alter the attack or defense attributes of a weapon or armor. These upgrades can be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. They can also be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear, or by purchasing them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.
The player is able to have a maximum of five boost upgrades at one time; each upgrade increases the probability that a better-quality version of the item will appear in the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their equipment even if they are unsure what will be improved after the reset.
Whether a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process can be costly and there is a significant chance that the item could become obsolete or even break if it fails; a failure to upgrade can cause the destruction of Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. This is reduced by the availability of cash shop items that can double or even eliminate the chance of failure, and some upgrades that provide an additional benefit when they are inserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to improve the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions. Glyphs boost the power of all nodes in the area around them and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We suggest upgrading them as soon as you can to level 15.
You will often find in the final game that placing Glyphs is a great way to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded up to level 15 and offer a significant boost to your power on the Paragon Board.
Glyphs, the only upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and then replaced with no restrictions are the most popular. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt by using the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.
There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use, and through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you will need them to be placed on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus that will boost the stats of a specific set of nodes within a radius around the Glyph. Based on the Glyph the bonus will be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
The use of a Glyph will boost all nodes that are linked to it, and it is recommended to position your Glyphs near the most important nodes of the Graph to maximise the impact. Druids, for instance, should place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might be able to place them near their most critical damage nodes.
Leveling
The upgrade system for items lets players increase the performance of specific items by putting upgraded components in them. This is often referred to as "upping". Every upgradeable item is assigned a level which determines the final statistics. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires a different number of components to be reached, and the upgrade costs increase as the item is advanced in level.
Some upgrades require a special ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or bought from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns several Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrading an item. When enough points have been earned you will be able to claim the upgrade and also receive the bonuses.
When an individual player upgrade the equipment they have, the base item will be replaced with a new item. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also has its own bonus. This could be a drawback because it can make the item more expensive if you don't need it.
Upgrades to items can be rerolled if the player has enough reroll tokens to do so. This causes the item to be exchanged for a brand new one, which will come with the level 1 base, and a totally different set of bonuses. This is useful for certain items, however it's not something that should be done regularly, as it can use up a lot of resources.
Some upgrades can increase their value and allow players to modify their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives an increase in power if the player continuously enters or exits the water. It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time increasing the maximum roll by 10 points. This item can be very valuable in PvP, as an item that is properly rolled it could be worth between 20 and 50 times its value without being upgraded.
Requirements
The ability to upgrade items allows players to increase the quality of their equippable equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by presenting the appropriate items and currencies to an item upgrade r NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces improve the strength of their base defense and upgrades to weapon items increase the damage they deal as well as their strength and dexterity.
Each item can be upgraded up to five times except for hero equipment, which can be upgraded eight times. Every time you upgrade an item it has an opportunity to fail. The rate of failure increases as you exceed the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures can cause the item to return to its original state, which requires the player to purchase more items than if they stopped upgrading after the maximum number.
If an item does not upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally the item will be deducted any bonuses it gained such as crit chance and attack damage, and all additional effects associated with the effect (for instance, a higher healing over time or speed of reload). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.
When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that if a weapon gains an increase in its crit chance the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage. Slots is a new attribute that was added to item definitions. The value is calculated each time an upgrade occurs.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating and number of upgrade slots. The cost for upgrading non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade--for example, a common equipment item could have five upgrades at a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items will come with the lowest cost for each upgrade.
Premium items may require different upgrades than normal equipment. For instance they may require less sowels, but they will require more minerals and orons. Whatever the case, players must visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko in Central Flarine. Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs mentioned above, each upgrade will require the use of different ingredients needed to upgrade.
